July 12, 2011 - What a team!
I’m excited to be writing my first blog on sf-pr.com. It’s amazing to realize I’ve had this business over 27 years! Where did the time go?!
Recently, someone new joined our team — someone who was concerned her age might be a deterrent! This person is a “seasoned” (far from “old”) professional and Ellen and I are blessed to have her with us. Every client has appreciated the talent and passion of this person. Who is it? Well, from our “About Us” Page you probably know. It’s Liz Matt, whom we all knew as Lizabeth Starr, the co-host with Wally Kennedy of AM Philadelphia on Channel 6 for ten years. Liz and I knew each other because I was an occasional guest on the show. Then, when she left her 25-year career in broadcasting, we stayed in touch. But, it was at a January breakfast meeting for Philly Ad Club that we re-connected, and THAT was a lucky morning for me.
Liz is a total pleasure — she cares deeply about being productive, making a difference and doing good work. She’s not good at “telling time,” a similar problem I have! Meaning, there is no such thing as the “9 to 5″ job. If she reads something in the paper and has an idea in the evening, she shares it with me. If a client needs her, she’s there. One morning at 7 a.m., she sent me an e-mail — “I have an idea. Can you talk now?” Her idea was a homerun, a real winner for our client, Jacobs Music Company.
And, the combination of Liz and Ellen Weisberg is a total joy for me. We are women who care, who are dedicated to doing good work. Ellen has been with me, maybe eight years now, and I can’t imagine running this business without her. Truth is, SHE runs the business so I can do the work I love — public relations and writing.
So, on my first blog, I just wanted to officially thank Ellen Weisberg and Liz Matt for making every day that much more special and making SFPR that much better!
