PIANO LOVERS ARE INVITED TO …

A MASTER CLASS AT JACOBS MUSIC COMPANY

WITH INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED STEINWAY ARTIST SIMON MULLIGAN

 FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2012 – 5 TO 7 P.M.

Whitehall, PA (January 20, 2012) –The Times of London describes Simon Mulligan as “the most abundantly gifted of all pianists,” and on Friday, February 10, 2012, from 5 – 7 p.m., the British artist will present a master piano class with some of Lehigh Valley’s most talented young musicians. The event is open to the public and will be held in the showroom of Jacobs Music Company at 2223 MacArthur Rd. in Whitehall, PA.

The Jacobs Music master class is presented in coordination with Mulligan’s debut with the Allentown Symphony Orchestra in a program called “Love Melodies” conducted by Diane Wittry, Saturday, February 11 at 8 pm and Sunday, February 12 at 3pm at Allentown Symphony Hall.

The intimate setting of the master class will permit piano enthusiasts to have a close-up experience with the interpersonal dynamics that occur between a legendary artist and highly promising young pianists.  Students from the Lehigh Valley area will perform and Mulligan will share artistic and technical insights drawn from his decades of concert experiences.

The world renowned British pianist, who has performed for Queen Elizabeth and President Barak Obama, began playing at the age of three and became one of the most talented artists of his time. As both a soloist and chamber artist of diverse genres, Mulligan has performed and recorded with some of the world’s most famous orchestras including the BBC Symphony, Hong Kong Philharmonic, English Symphony Orchestra and the Royal National Scottish Orchestra, to name a few. With over twenty CDs recorded and fifty concertos performed, Mulligan has had an impressive career.

The master class is one of dozens of high caliber music events taking place monthly at Jacobs Music Company, owned by the Rinaldi family of New Jersey.  “Supporting and fostering active music-making has been an integral part of our mission for over a century,” said Mark Love, Senior Vice-President of Development for Jacobs Music Company.  “It’s who we are as a company and how the Rinaldis think as a family.  In the words of our Chairman Al Rinaldi, ‘A life without music is a life without meaning’.”

For the master class, space is very limited and reservations are required.  For more information on this and other performances at Jacobs Music Company in Whitehall, call 610-770-3588.
